Kuala Lumpur, 14 December 2025. The Secretary of State for Cooperatives (SECoop) of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, represented by Eng. Leovogildo Belarmino, participated in the IYC 2025 COOP WALK, Cooperatives Build a Better World, held on 14 December 2025 (Sunday) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The event was organized in celebration of the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) 2025, bringing together thousands of participants to promote unity, sustainability, and community empowerment through cooperatives.

The 5-kilometer walk started at Dataran DBKL and concluded at Taman Eko Rimba Kuala Lumpur (TERKL), offering participants an opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the city while strengthening solidarity among cooperative movements from across the region.

SECoop’s participation reflects Timor-Leste’s strong commitment to advancing the cooperative sector as a key driver of inclusive economic growth, social solidarity, and sustainable development, in line with the global IYC 2025 theme: Cooperatives Build a Better World.

The event also saw the participation of cooperative delegations from several ASEAN countries, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, and Timor-Leste, highlighting strong regional solidarity and a shared commitment to advancing cooperatives as a pillar of inclusive and sustainable development across Southeast Asia.
