His Excellency Francisco da Costa Monteiro, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received Ms. Katarina Cooper, Australia’s Special Envoy for the Greater Sunrise project, in a courtesy introductory meeting during her visit to Timor-Leste.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on continued cooperation between Timor-Leste and Australia to support progress on the Greater Sunrise development.

The Minister also highlighted the need for continued cooperation to expedite the development of Greater Sunrise, noting that negotiations to finalise the PMC, PSC, and Fiscal Regime should be concluded by March, and that it is important to select a single development concept by July this year following the successful completion of the Wood led study.

Ms. Cooper conveyed Australia’s intention to support an inclusive and coordinated approach involving relevant stakeholders from both countries, and welcomed continued engagement as discussions move forward.
