𝐃𝐢𝐥𝐢, 𝟎𝟔/𝟎𝟑/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔-The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) convened a Validation Meeting to review and finalize the Action Plan and Workplan for ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Sectoral Bodies, focusing on Consumer Protection and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development.

The meeting brought together representatives from key government institutions, including the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MNEC), and the Ministry of Coordinating for Economic Affairs (MCAE). The discussion aimed to ensure strong coordination among line ministries in preparing Timor-Leste’s engagement with ASEAN economic cooperation mechanisms.

Participants reviewed the proposed activities, responsibilities, and implementation timelines to ensure that the action plan aligns with national development priorities and institutional mandates. The meeting also emphasized the importance of strengthening policy frameworks and institutional capacity to support Consumer Protection and the development of MSMEs in Timor-Leste.

The validated action plan will serve as a key reference for coordinating national participation in relevant AEC sectoral bodies and for advancing initiatives that promote a more competitive and inclusive economic environment
