O Vice-Ministro do Comércio e Indústria, Sua Excelência Augusto Júnior Trindade, na qualidade de Líder do SEOM de Timor-Leste, presidiu oficialmente à abertura da sessão online sobre o Work Flow Mechanism for AEC Meetings, realizada na sala de reuniões do MCI e também por via virtual.

A sessão teve como objetivo partilhar uma ferramenta prática (folha Excel) para melhorar o processo de preparação e acompanhamento (follow-up) antes e depois da participação nas reuniões da Comunidade Económica da ASEAN (AEC). Os participantes incluíram líderes setoriais da AEC, pontos focais e suplentes dos ministérios e agências governamentais relevantes.

Na sua intervenção, o Vice-Ministro expressou o seu apreço à equipa do Banco Asiático de Desenvolvimento (ADB), em particular ao Sr. Danny Burrows, pela organização e apoio na realização desta sessão. Destacou que Timor-Leste continua a reforçar o seu envolvimento no processo de integração na ASEAN, sendo fundamental que os oficiais se preparem adequadamente para participar ativamente nas reuniões do pilar económico.

O Vice-Ministro enfatizou ainda que a participação de Timor-Leste nas reuniões da ASEAN deve ser proativa, assegurando que os interesses, prioridades e perspetivas nacionais estejam refletidos nas intervenções a todos os níveis, desde os grupos de trabalho até ao nível do SEOM, AEM e AECC. Sublinhou igualmente a importância de um fluxo de informação eficaz para reforçar a coordenação e a continuidade no processo decisório da ASEAN.

Durante a sessão, o Sr. Danny Burrows, Consultor do ADB, apresentou o mecanismo de workflow, que visa melhorar a coordenação na preparação, elaboração de relatórios e acompanhamento das reuniões. A sessão prosseguiu com um momento de discussão e perguntas e respostas entre os participantes.

Por fim, o Vice-Ministro encorajou todos os participantes a envolverem-se ativamente e a utilizarem o mecanismo apresentado, de forma a aumentar a eficiência e a eficácia da participação de Timor-Leste nas reuniões da ASEAN.

Timor-Leste reafirma o seu compromisso de continuar a trabalhar em estreita colaboração com parceiros como o ADB, com vista ao reforço da capacidade institucional e à consolidação do seu envolvimento na integração económica regional da ASEAN.

The Vice Minister of Commerce and Industry, His Excellency Augusto Júnior Trindade, in his capacity as Leader of the SEOM of Timor-Leste, officially presided over the opening of the online session on the Work Flow Mechanism for AEC Meetings, held in the MCI meeting room and also virtually.

The session aimed to share a practical tool (Excel sheet) to improve the preparation and follow-up process before and after participation in ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) meetings. Participants included AEC sector leaders, focal points and alternates from relevant government ministries and agencies.

In his speech, the Deputy Minister expressed his appreciation to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) team, in particular Mr. Danny Burrows, for the organization and support in holding this session. He highlighted that Timor-Leste continues to strengthen its involvement in the ASEAN integration process, and it is essential that officers prepare adequately to actively participate in the economic pillar meetings.

The Vice Minister also emphasized that Timor-Leste's participation in ASEAN meetings should be proactive, ensuring that national interests, priorities and perspectives are reflected in interventions at all levels, from working groups to the level of SEOM, EMA and AECC. It also underlined the importance of an effective flow of information to enhance coordination and continuity in ASEAN's decision-making process.

During the session, Mr. Danny Burrows, ADB Consultant, presented the workflow mechanism, which aims to improve coordination in the preparation, reporting and follow-up of meetings. The session continued with a moment of discussion and questions and answers among the participants.

Finally, the Vice Minister encouraged all participants to actively engage and use the mechanism presented, in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of Timor-Leste's participation in ASEAN meetings.

Timor-Leste reaffirms its commitment to continue to work closely with partners such as the ADB, with a view to strengthening institutional capacity and consolidating its involvement in ASEAN's regional economic integration.
