𝐃𝐢𝐥𝐢, 𝟏𝟎 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨𝐬 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐬, held a farewell meeting this Friday with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Timor-Leste, 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐨’ 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢 𝐀𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐣𝐢𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐣𝐢𝐭 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐡, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MFAC), Praia dos Coqueiros, Dili.

During the meeting, Minister Bendito expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Amarjit’s leadership in strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries across various sectors, particularly highlighting Malaysia’s support for Timor-Leste’s full accession to ASEAN on 26 October 2025, during the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur.

Minister Bendito also conveyed his gratitude to the Government of Malaysia for its support in developing the capacity of Timorese human resources in various fields through the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme, as well as for enhancing air connectivity between Kuala Lumpur and Dili through the operations of Batik Air and Aero Dili.

The Ambassador of Malaysia to Timor-Leste, Dato’ Seri Amarjit Sarjit Sinh, expressed his sincere appreciation for the full support extended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation throughout his diplomatic mission in Timor-Leste.

The Malaysian diplomat also thanked the Government of Timor-Leste for granting land for the future construction of Malaysia’s Embassy in Dili. Currently, technical teams in Malaysia are preparing the design to commence construction of the new Embassy.

Ambassador Amarjit reaffirmed that the Government of Malaysia will continue to support Timor-Leste in its preparations for its ASEAN Chairmanship, scheduled for 2029.
