O Diretor-Geral do Comércio do Ministério do Comércio e Indústria (MCI), Sr. Elias Fátima, recebeu hoje, no Salão do MCI, uma delegação da Standards Australia, liderada pelo Sr. Roland Terry-Lloyd, Head of Strategic and International Delivery, acompanhado pelo Sr. Brendan Slowy, International Learning Engagement Manager.

O encontro contou igualmente com a presença da Chefe do Gabinete do Vice-Ministro do Comércio e Indústria, Sra. Natalina Horta Assis, em representação de Sua Excelência o Vice-Ministro do Comércio e Indústria, que se encontra em missão oficial nas reuniões da ASEAN, em Manila.

Durante o encontro, as duas partes reafirmaram o compromisso de fortalecer a cooperação na área das normas, avaliação da conformidade e desenvolvimento da infraestrutura nacional da qualidade, reconhecendo a sua importância para facilitar o comércio, reforçar a competitividade e apoiar a integração de Timor-Leste na ASEAN.

A reunião decorreu num ambiente de cooperação e amizade, tendo ambas as partes manifestado interesse em aprofundar a parceria através de assistência técnica, formação e partilha de conhecimentos para apoiar o desenvolvimento económico sustentável de Timor-Leste.

The Director-General of Commerce of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI), Mr. Elias Fátima, today received a delegation from Standards Australia at the MCI Hall. The delegation was led by Mr. Roland Terry-Lloyd, Head of Strategic and International Delivery, accompanied by Mr. Brendan Slowy, International Learning Engagement Manager.

The meeting was also attended by the Chief of Staff of the Vice Minister of Commerce and Industry, Ms. Natalina Horta Assis, representing H.E. the Vice Minister of Commerce and Industry, who is currently on an official mission in Manila, Philippines, attending ASEAN meetings.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the areas of standards, conformity assessment, and the development of Timor-Leste's national quality infrastructure, recognizing their importance in facilitating trade, enhancing competitiveness, and supporting Timor-Leste's integration into ASEAN.

The meeting was held in a spirit of friendship and cooperation, with both sides expressing their interest in further strengthening the partnership through technical assistance, capacity building, and knowledge sharing to support Timor-Leste's sustainable economic development.
