The visit was part of a broader engagement program to deepen collaboration grounded in good faith, shared commitment, and alignment of interests towards the development of the Greater Sunrise gas field. The Minister was received by Julie Fallon, Executive Vice President Technical and Energy Development, and other senior representatives from Woodside, including Breyden Lonnie Vice President North West Shelf and key technical staff involved in the Sunrise Joint Venture. The delegation from Timor-Leste also included Mr. Rui Soares, President and CEO of TIMOR GAP, E.P., and Mr. Gualdino da Silva, President of the National Petroleum Authority. The visit included technical briefings and guided tours of the North West Shelf (NWS) Visitor Centre, King Bay Supply Base, Pluto LNG facilities, and the Karratha Gas Plant, one of the most advanced and integrated gas production facilities in the world. The delegation received insights into the ongoing Pluto Train 2 expansion and Scarborough development, as well as infrastructure integration across the NWS project. The Timor-Leste delegation also visited Murujuga National Park, where they engaged with the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation Ranger, acknowledging the cultural and environmental stewardship connected to LNG development in the region. During the time in Karratha, the Minister and delegation also visited key urban, educational, and community service facilities around the city to observe firsthand the broader socio-economic impact brought about by decades of oil and gas development. Woodside representatives highlighted how sustained investment in infrastructure has catalysed the city’s transformation, contributing to modern public amenities such as healthcare centres, recreational spaces, educational institutions, and civic infrastructure. These insights offered valuable real world reference points as Timor-Leste envisions its own southern coast transformation, anchored by the Greater Sunrise project and complementary downstream infrastructure. The Government aims to replicate a similar development model through the Tasi Mane Project, ensuring that industrialisation goes hand-in-hand with social progress, job creation, and long-term community wellbeing.
