His Excellency Francisco da Costa Monteiro, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with Mr. Lorenzo Simonelli, Chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes, and senior representatives of the company, on the margins of Gastech 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Baker Hughes is a global energy technology company with extensive experience across the oil and gas value chain and a leading global presence in LNG, providing technologies and solutions for upstream development, gas processing, liquefaction, transportation and downstream infrastructure.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss Timor-Leste’s ongoing energy development and potential areas for future cooperation. As Timor-Leste advances the progress and implementation of the Greater Sunrise Project, the redevelopment of Bayu-Undan and other petroleum and downstream opportunities, Minister Monteiro highlighted the importance of engaging experienced international companies that can bring technology, technical expertise and project development capabilities.

Baker Hughes shared its experience and capabilities in supporting major oil and gas and LNG developments globally, including technology solutions and modular approaches for LNG development.

Minister Monteiro welcomed continued engagement with Baker Hughes to explore areas where the company’s expertise and technologies could support Timor-Leste’s petroleum and downstream development.
