Asuntu : 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚, 𝟐𝟐 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, H.E. 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨𝐬 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐬, was warmly received by his counterpart, H.E. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐫𝐨, Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Repu The meeting formed part of Minister Bendito’s working visits to ASEAN member states to convey Timor-Leste’s sincere appreciation for the Philippines’ steadfast support throughout Timor-Leste’s ASEAN accession journey and to further strengthen the longstanding friendship and bilateral cooperation between the two nations. Both Ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepen collaboration in key strategic areas, including education and human capital development, people-to-people connectivity, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, maritime security, public administration, and MSME development. As the Philippines prepares to assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2026, Timor-Leste looks forward to working closely and learning from the Philippines in advancing regional unity, prosperity, and shared growth. Both sides also agreed to reactivate the Political Consultation Mechanism to review the implementation of existing bilateral agreements and explore new areas of cooperation to support Timor-Leste’s post-accession integration into ASEAN.
